Do you wanna docent?

Friday, May 31, 2024 • 1 –2 PM • In Person

Looking for a fun way to volunteer and learn more about ceramic art? Ever wanted to get involved with AMOCA but never knew where to start? Well, you’re in luck! Join us for “do you wanna docent?” a guided introduction to docenting as we explore selected pieces of our current exhibitions.

AMOCA’s Education Manager Chinelo Ufondu will guide the discussion, offering insights for facilitating meaningful conversations. This information session will kick-off our summer training program that will introduce new attendees to our rich collection, receive tips in touring techniques and strategies, along with fieldtrips to other museums and cultural institutions.

There will be time for questions and answers at the end of the session. If you are looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity and an amazing community, consider becoming a docent today!

AMOCA’s Docent Program

Docents are trained volunteers who give educational exhibition tours to school children, clubs, or special interest groups. AMOCA is recruiting individuals who are eager to work with people, who are community-minded, and who are interested in the benefits of life-long learning. You can make a world of a difference in meeting our mission, and get a sense of satisfaction from knowing you are doing something worthwhile for someone else. Learn more on our Docent page.

Can’t attend the May 31 session, but interested in volunteering this summer at AMOCA? Fill out our online Volunteer Application.

If you have questions, email Chinelo at education@amoca.org or call (909) 865-3146.
