Members Tour: A Traveler’s Guide to Mettlach

Wednesday, December 11, 2024 • 12:00–1:00 PM • In Person

Join us for a tour of AMOCA’s exhibition A Traveler’s Guide to Mettlach: Villeroy and Boch with Executive Director Beth Ann Gerstein.

This tour will be an exciting opportunity to get insights into the collections and storage process at AMOCA. Don’t miss your chance to go behind the scenes and learn about the history and significance of this impressive collection. We’ll even take a peek into some of the pieces in our downstairs storage vaults.

A Traveler’s Guide to Mettlach showcases everyday life in the 1800s Mettlach, Germany. Scenes of everyday life in Mettlach have been documented and celebrated by Villeroy and Boch, a ceramic production company founded in 1836 when Jean François Boch and Nicolas Villeroy merged their ceramic businesses into what is now known as Villeroy and Boch. The varied backgrounds of the factory workers contributed to the artistic achievements of the Villeroy and Boch company, and the Mettlach collection reflects German cultural experiences, societal interpretations, and mythology.

This in-person event is complimentary for members. Would you like to renew or purchase a new AMOCA membership? Visit our membership page for details.
